Dungen: Häxan [2/20/17]

Second show! Today’s featured flutes were on the Swedish band Dungen’s newest album, Häxan. It’s a psyched-out score of the 1926 animated feature film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and you guessed it, has some pretty insane flute.

Sick Flutes Begins

Hello. Welcome.

The purpose of this post is to serve as a rudimentary introduction to what this show, Sick Flutes with Jon Kriney will be like.

To begin, I want to state this clearly: I do not, and have never, played the flute. I know next to nothing about flutes.

If that makes me a poser, I don’t care. I just know that hearing flute in any kind of music brightens my day. It’s a lovely instrument, it sounds wonderful, and it makes my ears happy. That’s it. If you don’t like flutes, get out of here.

The premise of this show is simple: I start out every show with a track that has some really sick flute in it, and let that set the theme for the rest of the show. Flute is in all kinds of music, and I listen to all kinds of music. No two shows will be alike.

Now, to address this blog. My current plan is to keep an archive of recordings of all of my shows, if I ever figure out how to do that. Also, I plan on posting all of my playlists on here, and updating it live while on air.

And, well, that’s it. I’m just a simple boy who likes to listen to flutes and hopes to share the music I find with all of you.

As a thank you for visiting this site, you can listen to Kanye freestyling to some of the sickest flute in the game here.

[this track is featured on DJ Hotday’s mixtape MC’s Act Like They Don’t Know 2 on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, etc.]
